Peacock Chronicles - Scene 3

The male peafowl waddles around the chicken patio careful to always display his fan of feathers to the female peahen. Occassionally, the male stops to "shake his tailfeathers" in a rapid oscillating motion. (The tall grey feathers you see coming up from the body, seeming to hold up the display fan, moved back and forth so quickly it was like a vibration.) The motion creates a soft whirring noise. The female peahen inspects the patio, first on one side then the other. The male peafowl shifts to the right, then the left, then to the right again.

(I must confess, that during this scene I decided that the back of the feather display is just as beautiful and interesting as the front. Maybe if the peahen would have had a chance to see the sexy little poof of down, the long feathers of velvety black and rich copper she would have invited the male into the hen house. - But she never got the chance. The male only ever showed her one side of him - typical.)
